party Arrafah has called for a national referendum on the
restoration of bigamy during its constituent assembly in Sfax,
founding party president Mohamed Fekih said in a radio interview
on Wednesday.
The idea is to recognize the existence of "coutumier" marriages, or marriages by habit and repute, that are not celebrated by an officiant but that attest to the link between two people, Fekih explained. His party is not against the statute on persons, which bans polygamy, he said. (ANSAmed).
