(ANSAmed) - ROMA, 10 GEN - Motorcycles, cars, quads and
trucks are competing fourteen legs across the Saudi desert. It
is the Dakar rally 2023 that is currently taking place in Saudi
Arabia after starting from the first leg at Sea Camp. For the
rally, a huge village with mechanic shops and tents to sleep in
the desert for the pilots was set-up. The pilots are preparing
both physically and mentally for a very long race. Some are
determined to win, the majority will be content with being able
to complete the race which is now running in its 45th edition.
It is the fourth time that the rally takes place entirely in Saudi Arabia, however it maintains the traditions of the Paris-Dakar. For ten years it had been moved to South America, from 2009, but for the past three years it has taken place in Saudi Arabia, changing routes and locations but maintaining its allure. The rally kicked off from the camp and the arrival is planned in Dammam, after 14 legs that will have truly test the resilience of the pilots over a total distance of 8,548 kilometers, of which 4,705 under special conditions.
