The discussion will be the center of the Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean Region project (meetMED II).
The EU-funded project "strengthens the decarbonisation of national energy mixes and the implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings and appliances through a multiscale, multi-partner and inclusive approach at local and regional levels, thereby fostering regional cooperation among 8 Southern Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine Territories and Tunisia)", according to a statement posted online.
The "Roundtable in Egypt on Investment in Sustainable Energy in the Mediterranean" will focus on an analysis of different standpoints on strategic prospects for different ways to access financing in the sector, starting from the current programs in the maritime sector that have received funds for their sustainability projects, as well as strategies of banks and financial institutes to avoid risks.
Needs and challenges that Egypt is facing on the issue will be discussed.
The Cairo roundtable is part of five days on the issue of environmental protection in the Mediterranean. The first two were in Amman in June 2022 and in Rabat in October 2022.(ANSAmed). (ANSA).
