Reports were from the Greek newspaper Efimerida ton Syntakton, which referenced figures from the Greek energy regulator and showed the divide between the Mediterranean nation and the other member states of the EU.
This figure was highlighted by Nasos Iliopoulos, braodcaster Open.
"If we look at wholesale energy prices, while in Greece we are paying 239 euros, France, Belgium, and Germany are paying 50 euros," he said.
He added that, "in Greece we also have the costliest petrol and - after the subsidies brought in by the government on the basis of income - we are the third top country in terms of energy spending." After Greece, Italy and Malta - with a price of 175 euros per MWh - are the EU countries with the highest energy costs.
