The Tunisian minister for energy and mining, Mongi Marzouk, said the initiative represents a "step forward in the framework of a global strategy for a good management of the sector", marked by an approach dictated by criteria of openness, transparency and good governance that are part of reforms started by the minister.
The Tunisian hydrocarbon sector has often been criticized on the domestic front for the lack of transparency. With this move, the energy minister reportedly decided to adhere by the principle of open data by making data available in a complete way, also to implement principles that are part of the 2014 Constitution.
