TUNIS - Tunisia in 2018 registered the arrival of over eight million foreign tourists, or 8,299,137, including 2,726,000 Algerians, Tourism Minister René Trabelsi told local radio Express Fam, adding that the objective for 2019 is to reach nine million tourists.
It was the best result since 2010, the year before the revolution.
Speaking about the results in detail, Trabelsi stressed that the number of European tourists has gone down, noting that a strategy is necessary to attract them once again. The minister said a more diversified offer is necessary, investing in culture, sports and business, as well as the Sahara, enabling to increase the presence of foreign tourists during the low season.
Trabelsi noted that it is also important to give new impulse to local craftsmanship which is currently suffering due to the lack of specialized artisans.
