claims made in European press leaks, expressing its deep
astonishment at the European reaction to such claims, without
any built foundations or clear evidence", says Majed Mohammad
Hassan Abdullah Al-Ansari, advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister
and Minister of Foreign Affairs and spokesperson for the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Speaking with ANSA, Al-Ansari noted that "Qatar is a trusted international partner and reliable ally of Europe on a number of levels and fields, including bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues. It is therefore an odd measure for the European Parliament to unitarily take action against the State of Qatar and its diplomatic mission, based on leaked allegations that are not supported with any evidence".
For Al-Ansari, the current corruption scandal will not touch the basis of the relations between Doha, Europe, and in particular with Italy: "Qatar enjoys a strong bilateral relation and strategic partnership with Italy, and we appreciate our robust partnership in all fields including business and security. Moreover, Italy is a distinguished destination for Qatari business investments. We also appreciate Italy's support for Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup", he underlined.
