Giorgi is the partner of former deputy president of the European Parliament Eva Kaili, who was removed from her position after the news of the case that has become known as Qatargate surfaced.
Giorgi's role was to handle the money, reported the French-language Belgian newspaper Le Soir on Thursday on the basis of documents it and Italy's La Repubblica were giving access to.
According to the newspaper, Giorgi also said that he suspected that Andrea Cozzolino and Marc Tarabella - both MEPs from the S&D group - had taken money through Antonio Panzeri.
Morocco was allegedly involved in the case of suspected corruption through its external information service, the DGED.
On the basis of the documents seen by the two newspapers - it reported - Panzeri, Cozzolino, and Giorgi had been in contact with the DGED and with Abderrahim Atmoun, the Moroccan ambassador in Poland.(ANSAmed).
