BRUSSELS / STRASSBOURG - Part of the cash found by police in the homes of Antonio Panzeri and Eva Kaili, as well as in the bags carried by the Greek European lawmaker's father, had been issued in Belgium, Belgian newspaper L'Echo reported on Wednesday.
This aspect could allow further progress in investigations carried out by prosecutors. As reported by the Belgian press, "by knowing where it was issued, it will be easy to identify the bank from which the money was withdrawn, and therefore the bank account and the identity of the person who took" the cash.
Meanwhile the European Parliament is taking action: "I intend to ask the European Commission to inform us quickly on the ongoing process of ratification of the EU-Qatar agreement on aviation and let us know when the beginning of the approval procedure is scheduled", the president of the transport commission of the European chamber, French Green MEP Karima Delli said in a letter to members of her commission, viewed by ANSA. "Moreover, I suggest to declassify all decision-making statements taken during the meeting of coordinators regarding Qatar", continued Delli. "Granting approval to this agreement in this phase could be difficult".
