The report, titled "The Right to Asylum: Vulnerable child refugees without a voice", said that in 2016 alone, more than 24,000 unaccompanied foreign minors arrived in southern Italy, with the percentage of unaccompanied minors reaching 14% of all migrant arrivals in 2016, compared to an average of 9% between 2012 and 2015.
Asylum requests are also up, from 306 in 2010 to 2,557 in 2015, it said.
In the first eight months of 2016 there were 3,181 new asylum applications, double that of the same period in 2015.(ANSAmed).
