(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 3 - Former Italy and Juventus captain and
goalkeeping great Gianluigi Buffon on Wednesday extended his
contract as the national team's delegation head saying "Azzurro
is my second skin".
The record 176 time Italy player and 2006 World Cup winner, with
his contract expiring at the end of the 2024 tournament that the
Azzurri exited to Switzerland last week, met with the president
of the Italian Soccer Federation FIGC, Gabriele Gravina, and
"enthusiastically accepted the proposal" of the federal number
1, as the federation announced.
"Gigi is an extraordinary resource for the FIGC and the national
team," Gravina said.
The FIGC did not say how long Buffon had extended for. (ANSA).
