Italy cuts four embassies, including Reykjavik (ANSA) - Rome, April 4 - Premier Matteo Renzi's government approved the scrapping of four embassies at a cabinet meeting on Friday, including the one in Reykjavik, Iceland, as part of cost-cutting at the foreign ministry.

The other three to get the chop are the embassies in Tegucigalpa, Honduras; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and Nouakchott, Mauritania. The cabinet also agreed to merge Italy's representation at UNESCO with that to the OECD.

On Thursday Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini said Italian ambassadors' pay will feature in the government's ongoing review of public spending.
