Kerry tells pope he's 'great admirer, as Catholic' (ANSA) - Vatican City, March 27 - United States Secretary of State John Kerry, a Roman Catholic, told Pope Francis he was a great admirer of him on Thursday.

Kerry was part of the US delegation that visited the Vatican on Thursday, with President Barack Obama having a 50-minute private meeting with the Argentine pontiff.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Kerry said as he shook the pope's hand.

"I'm a great admirer, including as a Catholic".
