Renzi says key to focus on reforms, not deficit (see related) (ANSA) - Brussels, March 20 - Italian Premier Matteo Renzi indicated it was more important his government and others focus on reforms rather than discuss the budget deficit in the eurozone's third-largest economy.

The series of reforms he is scheduled to introduce in coming months include an overhaul of the Italian Senate, measures aimed at making labour legislation more flexible, and civil sector cuts, Renzi said. In addition, he cited plans to create an anti-corruption authority.

Earlier this month, the European Central Bank slammed the government for failing to comply with a European Commission recommendation to bring its budget deficit down to 2.6% of gross domestic product from 3% in 2013.
