President urges parliament to address euthanasia (ANSA) - Rome, March 18 - President Giorgio Napolitano urged parliament on Tuesday "not to ignore" the issue of physician-assisted suicide and to produce "ideas on the extreme conditions of millions of terminally ill in Italy". His comments came in a letter to euthanasia advocates in Italy, where the practice is currently banned. "I will draw parliament's attention to the need not to ignore the problem of end-of-life choices," said Napolitano.
