Oil refinery seized in contraband probe (ANSA) - Naples, March 18 - Finance police seized an oil refinery in the Umbrian city of Terni and 723 tonnes of diesel from various sites across Italy on Friday in connection with a probe into contraband oil. Two people were arrested in the operation and a further 11 people were charged, including the refinery's legal administrator. They are accused of criminal association for the contraband of petrol products. The alleged smuggling ring operated in the regions of Campania, Lazio, Abruzzo and Umbria, police said. Tanker trucks would leave from Naples for a particular destination only then to deposit the diesel in illegal sites for contraband, police said.
