Sorrentino made honorary citizen of Rome after Oscar win (ANSA) - Rome, March 14 - Oscar-winning film director Paolo Sorrentino was made an honorary citizen of Rome on Friday after his movie The Great Beauty won the Academy Award for best foreign film.

The Great Beauty, set entirely in Rome, has become "the pride of the entire city of Rome," Mayor Ignazio Marino said at the citizenship ceremony.

"Our welcome, dear maestro, comes from the heart," said Marino to Sorrentino, who is originally from Naples.

Rome is also planning a series of walking tours on Sunday that will include many of the famous sights of the city that were featured the film starring acclaimed actor Toni Servillo.
