Senate reform bill coming within two weeks, says Renzi (see related stories) (ANSA) - Rome, March 12 - Premier Matteo Renzi said Wednesday that the government will present a bill to reform the Senate, stripping its lawmaking powers and turning it into a leaner assembly of local-government representatives, within two weeks. The reform is part of efforts to make Italy easier to govern and reduce the cost of the country's political system. "I showed the ministers a text of the reform of the Senate," Renzi told a news conference after a cabinet meeting.

"We'll show it to the parties, unions and business associations and after 15 days we'll take it into parliament.

"The reform of the Senate is the central point. The Senate will never again vote the confidence in a government or a budget law".
