Renzi says Senate can address quotas for women MPs (ANSA) - Rome, March 11 - Premier Matteo Renzi said Tuesday that the issue of introducing minimum quotas for women MPs can be addressed when his election-law bill reaches the Senate. The bill is set to obtain approval in the Lower House Tuesday after three amendments seeking to ensure greater equality in parliament between the sexes were rejected Monday.

"If there are the conditions to discuss sexual equality in the Senate, we will reopen the debate," said Renzi, the leader of the centre-left Democratic Party (PD), which failed to unite in backing the amendments for women MPs quotas in three secret votes on Monday.
