Italy opens new art show every half hour, study says (ANSA) - Turin, March 11 - A new art exhibition opens on average every half hour in Italy, a study published Tuesday said. Some 17,500 art shows took place on Italian soil in 2012, according to the Venice Foundation. The study was presented at the Art & Museum International Exhibition Xchange in Turin, on through Wednesday. Most exhibits are concentrated in urban areas and the north of Italy, lasting only a brief amount of time, focusing mostly on contemporary art. The percentage of exhibitions held in museums decreased from 35.5% in 2011 to 32.2% in 2012, while those put on by private organizations rose 13.7%, and those hosted at corporate headquarters were up 5.8%.
