Senators rise to applaud Berlusconi upon visit (ANSA) - Rome, March 6 - Senators rose to applaud ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi as he entered the Upper House for a book presentation on Thursday, three months after they voted to oust him for a binding tax-fraud conviction. The three-time premier and former Senator was at Palazzo Giustiniani to launch a book by Alessandro Sallusti, editor of Il Giornale, the right-leaning daily owned by Berlusconi, who wrote the book's preface. The media mogul has yet to begin serving one year of house arrest for tax fraud on film rights at his Mediaset empire.
