Rome mayor to launch The Great Beauty film location tour (ANSA) - Rome, March 6 - Rome's mayor Ignazio marino announced plans to launch a specially-designed tour of Rome to open up to visitors the scenes where Paolo Sorrentino's film The Great Beauty, which won an Oscar earlier this month for best foreign film, was shot. "We are planning to set up some sort of a tour of these places, the beauty of which has been showcased by Paolo Sorrentino's magnificent film", Marino told the Radio Radio program in an interview. Italy was overjoyed last Monday to discover that the production had been awarded the prize for best foreign film, bring home the Academy Award for that sector. The Great Beauty is a jaded rendition of the decadent and vacuous lives of a top series of Italian personalities living in the capital city depicted through the eyes of a culture critic played by acclaimed actor Toni Servillo, a veteran of five Sorrentino movies. The magnificent real-life locations of Rome manages to offset the complete pure irrelevance of the existences of the disaffected protagonists, capturing the audience into a breath-taking whirlwind of colour and history.
