'Important progress' on Italy growth, jobs says Kerry (ANSA) - Rome, March 6 - US Secretary of State John Kerry said in Rome Thursday Italy was making "important" progress on stoking growth in the struggling economy and tackling record unemployment.

"I'm happy to be here again in Rome especially at a time when Italy is going through a transition with a new government and (making) important progress on growth and tackling unemployment, he told journalists ahead of a working dinner with Premier Matteo Renzi, speaking in Italian.

Renzi's ambitious political and economic reform agenda is expected to top the agenda as well as the Ukraine crisis.
