'Naples inspires us all,' says soccer great03 March, 18:29
"It is with great honour and pride that I thank Paolo Sorrentino, who cited me as a source of inspiration together with the directors (Federico) Fellini and (Martin) Scorsese and the group Talking Heads," Maradona said through his lawyer. "I'm pleased that a son of the Naples I love so much and which I would like to return to soon has won an Oscar," said the Argentina legend, who led Napoli to two league titles and a UEFA Cup in the 1980s but has been prevented from coming back because of an unpaid tax bill.
"Naples is the true source of inspiration for all of us who love it," added the 'Pibe de Oro', ranked alongside Pelé as the greatest player of all time, voicing the hope that his outstanding problem with the Italian tax man would soon be cleared up.
