Says words must now be followed by facts

US official expresses appreciation for Renzi (ANSA) - New York, February 28 - Newly appointed Premier Matteo Renzi has said encouraging things to date, though it remains to be seen if these will translate into facts, a US official and former ambassador to Italy said on Friday.

Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State David Thorne called Renzi a strong personality, adding that he hoped he would be successful and that the leader needed to now identify his path.

With regards to Italy, the official said it was key to attract foreign investment to bolster the economic recovery, and for this to occur he said it was key to demonstrate the ease with which one could invest in the nation and that there is no uncertainty in Italy.
