Renzi calls 12.9% unemployment 'outrageous' (see related) (ANSA) - Rome, February 28 - Premier Matteo Renzi on Friday called the rise of Italy's unemployment rate to 12.9% "outrageous". "The highest in 35 years. That's why our first measure will be the Jobs Act," tweeted the new premier, referring to an employment initiative. Renzi has made boosting jobs and shifting focus from EU-promoted austerity central to his government agenda.
