Navy saves dinghy with 100 migrants aboard (ANSA) - Rome, February 28 - The Italian navy on Friday rescued a dinghy with about 100 sub-Saharan African migrants aboard including a new-born baby south of the stepping-stone island of Lampedusa, closer to Libya than Sicily.

The navy said the migrants included 23 women and 46 minors. It said the rescue operation took "all night because of the bad weather and the heavy sea conditions".
