Italian govt warns against travel to parts of Egypt (ANSA) - Rome, February 28 - The Italian foreign ministry on Friday warned its citizens to avoid travel to the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, including resort locations like Sharm el Sheikh, Taba and Dabah.

The travel advisory was due to the "progressive deterioration of safety" and terrorist threats, the ministry's travel website Viaggiaresicuri (travel safe) said.

The ministry also warned against non-essential travel to locations other than tourist areas in northern Egypt, on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean coasts of the country.
