478,000 jobs lost in 2013 (ANSA) - Rome, February 28 - Some 478,000 jobs were lost in Italy in 2013, a 2.1% drop on 2012 and the worst year since the financial crisis of 2008-2009, Istat said Friday. The average employment rate over the year was 12.2%, the statistics agency said. In 2012 it was 10.7%.

Italy is slowly emerging from its longest recession since WWII.
