Students 'sold sex because pocket money too low'

Girls, 14 and 15, reported by man they propositioned

Students 'sold sex because pocket money too low' (ANSA) - Ventimiglia, February 27 - Three middle-school students in this northwestern town on the border between Italy and France allegedly sold sex because their pocket money was not enough for their tastes, police said Thursday.

The three alleged prostitutes, aged 14 and 15, were reported to police by a 30-year-old man they propositioned, police said.

The trio had allegedly been working as prostitutes for about a month.

They allegedly decided to go into sex work after reading about the headline-grabbing case of underaged prostitutes who plied their trade in the high-class Parioli district of Rome.

Five people have been placed under investigation on suspicion of pimping.
