Pope appeals for end to violence in Venezuela (ANSA) - Vatican City, February 26 - Pope Francis on Wednesday appealed for an end to violence in Venezuela, which has been hit in recent weeks by a wave of anti-government protests over high crime rates.

The pope said he was following the events in Venezuela with "particular apprehension", adding that he hoped "violence and hostilities cease as soon as possible".

He also called on everyone in Venezuela, starting from the "political and institutional" leaders, to work for "reconciliation", "sincere dialogue" and a justice system that tackles "concrete issues for the common good". http://popefrancisnewsapp.com/
