Renzi carries memoir on challenges of marathons (ANSA) - Rome, February 25 - Cameras following Italian Premier Matteo Renzi Tuesday in the Lower House also caught the image of his private reading material, sitting on top of government files: a memoir on the determination of the long-distance runner.

The memoir What I Talk About When I Talk About Running was published in 2008 by popular Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, who writes about his interest in distance running, including marathons.

In interviews, Murakami has suggested that long-distance running is synonymous with the loneliness of a writer struggling to complete a long, complex novel.
