Olympics: Italian bobsleigher tests positive in Sochi (ANSA) - Sochi, February 21 - William Frullani, a member of the Italian Winter Olympic four-man bobsleigh team, has failed a drugs test in Sochi, the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) said Friday. Frullani, a 34-year-old four-time Italian national decathlon champion, has been ejected from the Olympic team and replaced by reserve Samuele Romanini, who will take part in Saturday's competition, CONI said. He tested positive for the banned substance dimethylamylamine, a stimulant, on February 18 at the Olympic village. The athlete asked for the B-samples to be tested too and these were also positive.

He reportedly said he took the substance by accident after buying a diet supplement that contained it on the Internet from the United States.

Dimethylamylamine is not considered a major performance enhancer and Frullani, a member of the Carabinieri police force, may get away with a reprimand.
