Convicted murderer arrested in Dominican Republic (ANSA) - Milan, February 21 - A convicted Italian murderer who forged a comfortable life in the Dominican Republic for 13 years was arrested Friday. Gianpaolo Albertini, 55, was detained by local police in Santo Domingo, capital of the Caribbean island nation, while driving a Harley Davidson under the false name of Hector Narvaez. Albertini fled Italy in 2001 after being sentenced to 16 years in jail for the murder of a fellow native of his northern Italian hometown Brescia.

During his life on the run he became close to former rightist terrorists, Italian police said.
