'Conditions for good govt team' says Alfano
'Never asked' to keep interior ministry21 February, 13:23
(ANSA) - Rome, February 21 - The government being assembled by premier-designate Matteo Renzi shows all the signs of being "a good team," outgoing Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said Friday.
Alfano, who is expected to remain deputy premier to the Democratic Party leader but leave the interior ministry, added that he had "never asked" to keep both jobs. Alfano leads the New Centre Right (NCD), a small conservative group that broke from ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi when he was banned from office on a tax-fraud conviction.
The NCD was junior partner to the government led by the PD's Enrico Letta, who Renzi torpedoed for moving too slowly on reforms.
It will continue to back another unnatural left-right coalition.
