Trieste port unions declare strike after worker death (ANSA) - Trieste, February19 - Unions in the port of Trieste on Wednesday declared a 23-hour strike after a 53-year-old warehouse worker died earlier in the day in a workplace accident. Valerio Colarich, an employee of the Tergestea transport company, died shortly after he began his work shift in a warehouse at 7:30.

According to a preliminary reconstruction, a number of bags fell on Colarich, killing him instantly, after he headed for some pallets of coffee. Emergency workers, maritime police and a magistrate are at the scene.
