Schulz hopes Renzi govt will be 'stable and strong' (ANSA) - Rome, February 18 - European Parliamen Speaker Martin Schulz said Tuesday he hoped the next Italian government led by Matteo Renzi would be "stable and strong".

Observing that growth in the EU's fourth-largest economy meant stability for Europe, Schulz answered a question on fears Renzi will turn from austerity to growth by telling ANSA that "we support any measure to ensure growth in Italy".

He said it was "unacceptable that an entire generation of young people were out of work while banks have been bailed out with billions and billion of euros".
