(ANSA) - Brussels, February 18 - The European Union (EU) on Tuesday warned of major repercussions for its anti-piracy efforts should India go ahead with plans to press terror charges against two Italian marines accused of killing two Indian fishermen two years ago.

"We have stated clearly that we are very concerned, because if charges are brought under the anti-terrorism law as is currently expected there will be important consequences for our fight against piracy," a spokesperson for the High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton said after the Indian Supreme Court postponed until Monday a ruling on the use of the so-called SUA Act against the Italian servicemen in what was the latest in a long string of delays.
