No response from Russia after transgender ex-MP arrested (ANSA) - Sochi, February 17 - Authorities in Russia have yet to respond since Vladimir Luxuria, an Italian transgender ex-MP, said Sunday she had been arrested in Sochi for bearing a rainbow banner with the inscription in Cyrillic 'It's OK to be gay", the International Olympic Committee said on Monday. The IOC has not taken any action in the affair. Luxuria, an actor and television personality, was Europe's first openly transgender parliamentarian. She was arrested by the police at Sochi while she was watching the Olympics and holding the banner, according to Rome-based gay-rights group Di'Gay Project.

Russia's anti-gay laws have been a point of tension during the Winter Games.
