'Renzi has time to give us a hand' says Alitalia CEO
Etihad deal won't close for two months, says Del Torchio17 February, 18:37
''Renzi has all the time in the world to give us a hand. We need a couple more months to close with Etihad Airways'', he told Radio 24, which is run by Italy's financial newspaper Sole 24 Ore.
The debt-ridden Italian airline on February 14 reached a deal with unions to avert lay-offs, while it sought to close a deal with the United Arab Emirates flag-carrier that would bring a much-needed financial shot-in-the-arm.
Etihad is reportedly eyeing a 40% stake in Alitalia with an injection of cash of up to 300 million euros.
