Soccer: Juventus tighten grip on top spot (ANSA) - Rome, February 16 - Juventus tightened their grip on the Serie A top spot when they beat Chievo Verona 3-1 at home on Sunday.

The win, secured with goals by Kwadwo Asamoah, Claudio Marchisio and Fernando Llorente, gives the reigning champions 63 points from 24 games.

The Turin giants are 12 points clear of second-placed AS Roma, although Roma can pull the deficit back down to nine points if they beat Sampdoria at home later on Sunday.

Roma also have another game in hand, because their home match against Parma was postponed at the start of this month because of a waterlogged pitch. Third-placed Napoli have 50 points after beating Sassuolo 2-0 away and sending the promoted side bottom. Fifth-placed Inter Milan gained ground on fourth-placed Fiorentina with a 2-1 win away from home Saturday.

Fiorentina have 44 points, while Inter have 39. AC Milan climbed up to ninth with a 1-0 win over Bologna pn Friday Catania moved off the bottom spot by beating Lazio 3-1 at home for the Sicilians' first win in over a month.
