(ANSA) - Vatican City, February 13 - Pope Francis on
Thursday called for greater cooperation between Jews and
Christians to create "a more just and fraternal world" in a
statement to members of the American Jewish Committee.
Francis praised "our common efforts to serve the poor, the
marginalized and those who suffer," in his statement.
"Our commitment to this service is anchored in the
protection of the poor, widows, orphans, and foreigners as shown
in Sacred Scripture.
"It is a God-given duty, one which reflects His holy will
and His justice; it is a true religious obligation".
Francis said he was "very grateful" to the organization for
working to promote greater dialogue and cooperation between Jews
