Olympics: Italy's Fontana wins silver in 500m short track (ANSA) - Sochi, February 13 - Italy's Arianna Fontana won the silver medal in the final of the women's 500m short track skating event at the Sochi Winter Olympics on Thursday.

Fontana finished third with a time of 51.250 seconds, but she was bumped up after Britain's Elise Christie was demoted from second place to last for causing an early crash that heavily conditioned the race.

China's Li Jianrou won gold with a time of 45.263 seconds and South Korea's Park Seung-hi came third in 54.207 seconds.

It is Italy's third medal of the Sochi Olympics after Armin Zoeggeler took bronze in the luge and Christof Innerhofer won silver in the men's downhill skiing event.
