Letta calls for 'ambitious' school reforms in Italy (see previous) (ANSA) - Rome, February 12 - Premier Enrico Letta called Wednesday for "ambitious" reforms to Italy's school system, including a start age of five-years-old and continuing to 18. Schools should also be "safe and wired" with Internet access as part of an education system with kids at its centre, he said.

The Italian education system should "begin and finish first: we want a grand plan for the country," he said, as he unveiled a new policy package.
