(ANSA) - Rome, February 12 - Differences remained between
Premier Enrico Letta and the leader of his centre-left
Democratic Party (PD), Matteo Renzi, following talks Wednesday,
government sources said.
Renzi, who won a party leadership primary with a landslide
in December, is questioning whether the PD should continue
backing the coalition government, amid speculation he is set to
take Letta's place.
The PD will tackle the issue at a meeting Thursday.
The sources said Letta and Renzi both stuck to their own
positions at Wednesday's meeting.
Letta repelled pressure for him to throw in the towel on
Tuesday, saying he would present a policy pact that would
convince the parties supporting his government, including the
