Italian travel sites fined 290,000 euros for shady business (ANSA) - Rome, February 10 - The Italian antitrust authority imposed fines totalling 290,000 euros on travel websites Bravo Fly and Easy Market, the authority said Monday.

Bravo Fly was ordered to pay 225,000 euros, while Easy Market must shell out 65,000 for shoddy business practices.

The two online travel sites are accused of opaque pricing and lack of clarity on optional travel insurance. The authority said Bravo Fly also lacked accessible customer assistance. The two businesses must also mend their ways, the authority added.

The Italian antitrust authority said it has undertaken six consumer-protection proceedings against online travel businesses since the beginning of 2013, issuing fines totalling 665,000 euros.
