Italy's furloughed employee time down 10.4% in January (ANSA) - Rome, February 5 - Italian benefits for temporarily furloughed workers in January were down 10.4% over the same month last year, the nation's social security agency INPS said on Wednesday.

In January 2014, INPS approved 81.4 million hours in payment benefits compared to 90.8 million hours in January 2013 amidst other signs that Italy's troubled economy is showing signs of improvement.

INPS also said the number of requests for employment benefits soared 33.8% in 2013 compared to 2012, with 2.1 million filings presented last year.
