Italian police break up African prostitution, drug ring (ANSA) - Rome, February 5 - Italian police on Wednesday arrested 34 people in Rome and other cities accused of running a prostitution and drug-trafficking racket linked to Africa.

With the collaboration of African authorities in the country of Togo, police said were able "to reconstruct the entire chain of trafficking" of young African women and narcotics. Investigators also said they uncovered money laundering on a massive scale.

Italian authorities said the women were taken to Italy to be reduced to sexual enslavement.
