'Battle goes on' says Sollecito after he and Knox guilty (ANSA) - Florence, January 31 - The Italian ex-boyfriend of Amanda Knox insisted he was innocent Friday and vowed to appeal to the supreme court after the pair was found guilty in a Florence court late Thursday of the 2007 murder of British exchange student Meredith Kercher. "I am innocent. The battle goes on," said Raffaele Sollecito, according to his lawyer Luca Mauri who spoke to him by telephone. Sollecito was sentenced to 26 years in prison and Knox to 28 years and six months in a fourth verdict. Sollecito was notified Friday of a ban from leaving the country as the case goes to a final stage of hearings at the supreme Court of Cassation in Rome. Police said they gave him the notice in a town in northeastern Italy. Knox is in her native United States.
