M5S to appeal to Constitutional Court against House Speaker (see related) (ANSA) - Rome, January 30 - The 5-Star Movement intends to submit an appeal to the Constitutional Court against House Speaker Laura Boldrini in an effort to annul committee votes on recent government decrees and bills it opposes, sources told ANSA on Thursday. The complaint, which is also against the chairmen of the constitutional affairs and justice committees, aims to annul votes on a decree to sell off central bank gold and another to reform the prison code by lightening some sentences. It also aims to block a bill to reform Italy's electoral law.

The bill was agreed to by Italy's biggest parties, the center-left Democratic Party (PD) and the center-right Forzia Italia of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi. The M5S, the third-biggest party, accuses them of using it to squeeze it out of politics.
